September 29th, 2009 - Early Christmas in America
Pennsylvania German settlers, Moravians that settled in Bethlehem and Nazareth, had the first Christmas trees and nativity scenes in America. Despite this, the Puritans in early America frowned on the celebration of Christmas, it was actually outlawed in Boston from 1659 to 1681.

September 28th, 2009 - It Begins...
My wife loves Christmas. LOVES Christmas. She would celebrate it every day if she could, and this blog is a way for her to do that. I will do my best to post something Christmas related every day, whether it be a picture, a story, a fact about Christmas, something.
For today I have an interesting fact that I did not know. I always thought that when people spelled Christmas "Xmas", the X was representing the Christ's cross. Turns out in Greek the letter X (chi) is the first letter of the work Christ, so it began to be used as an abbreviation for Christ in the mid 15th century. (Wikipedia, where else?).
